Penglipuran Village Adds Free Accident Insurance to Entry Tickets

Penglipuran Village Includes Tourist Safety Insurance With Entry Tickets
Bali's renowned Penglipuran Village has launched another innovative tourism initiative, bundling complimentary accident insurance into visitor entry fees—a move that underscores the destination's commitment to visitor safety and service excellence.
The UNESCO-recognised village, which has already earned the UN World Tourism Organisation's Best Tourism Village award and attracts approximately 2,000 visitors daily, has partnered with Indonesian insurance provider PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Jasindo) to provide Personal Accident protection at no additional cost to tourists.
Making Safety Accessible to All Visitors
Wayan Sumiarsa, Head of Penglipuran Tourism Village Management, explained the rationale behind the initiative.
"Insurance is now included in the ticket. With this additional insurance, tourists will no longer be charged additional fees when visiting Penglipuran. All tourists visiting Penglipuran should receive safety protection with this insurance, as our roads are somewhat risky, and this is also our effort to improve our service as an additional service."
This move addresses a practical concern for the village attraction: the challenging terrain and winding pathways that characterise Penglipuran's authentic Balinese landscape.
What the Coverage Includes
According to Brellian Gema, secretary of Jasindo, the insurance package provides comprehensive protection including:
- Death benefit due to accidents: up to IDR 50 million
- Permanent disability compensation (total or partial): up to IDR 50 million
- Medical expense reimbursement: up to IDR 5 million
- Accident-related transportation: up to IDR 1 million
- Hospitalization compensation: IDR 150,000 per day (maximum 5 days)
Ticket Prices Remain Unchanged
The initiative comes without increasing entry fees, which remain stable through at least the end of 2026. Domestic tourists pay IDR 15,000 for children and IDR 25,000 for adults, while international visitors are charged IDR 30,000 for children and IDR 50,000 for adults.
Originally reported by The Bali Sun, this development reflects Penglipuran's strategic positioning as a premium cultural destination that balances heritage preservation with modern visitor expectations.
Setting Industry Benchmarks
The initiative demonstrates how established Bali attractions are differentiating themselves in an increasingly competitive tourism market. By embedding insurance into base ticket prices rather than offering it as an optional add-on, Penglipuran removes barriers to visitor protection while signaling confidence in its safety standards.
This approach may influence other major Balinese attractions to reconsider their own visitor safety and insurance offerings, potentially raising service standards across the island's tourism sector.
