Jakarta's Baker Butcher Barista Brings Day-to-Night Concept to Ubud

Jakarta Favourite B3 Opens Ubud Location with Day-to-Night Concept

Baker Butcher Barista (B3) has brought its distinctive three-in-one dining concept to Ubud's cultural heart, marking the expansion of the popular Jakarta establishment into Bali. The newly opened venue transforms throughout the day—operating as a morning bakery and coffee bar before evolving into an evening steakhouse, creating what the team describes as an "adaptable all-day dining experience."

From Breakfast Pastries to Late-Night Steaks

The venue's dual identity reflects changing consumer preferences in Ubud, where tourists and expats increasingly seek venues that cater to multiple occasions without requiring a change of location. A dedicated bakery counter greets morning visitors with fresh pastries, while a specialty coffee bar serves house-roasted espresso drinks throughout the day. As evening approaches, the modern steakhouse section takes prominence, offering grilled meats and premium cocktails.

The menu balances Jakarta signatures with new creations specifically designed for Bali's diverse palate, blending international cuisine with local heritage.

Menu Strategy: Jakarta Classics Meet Balinese Innovation

B3's culinary approach imports proven Jakarta favourites alongside entirely new creations developed for the Balinese market. Established items include the Corny Bennie, Crab Toast, and Pastrami Sandwich—reliable signatures that draw existing fans. However, the kitchen has developed regional exclusives designed to appeal to Ubud's international community, such as the B.E.K., which combines bulgogi beef with kimchi and an onsen egg wrapped in pastry, and the assertively flavoured Garlic Bomb croissant knot.

Ubud's large vegetarian and plant-based community prompted B3 to dedicate significant menu space to meat-free options. The offerings include a Watermelon Salad, Spiced Pumpkin Tabbouleh, and Tempeh Club sandwich, reflecting the town's wellness-focused dining culture. These sit alongside more familiar international options like Hay Smoked Tuna Tataki, Lamb Shawarma, and Fattoush salad.

Local Flavours Meet Coffee Culture

The beverage program demonstrates particular creativity in localizing familiar formats. Signature coffee drinks incorporate Indonesian flavour profiles—the Teh Botol Latte references the iconic bottled tea brand, while Onde Onde Coffee draws inspiration from the sweet coconut glutinous rice balls beloved across Indonesia. Premium matcha receives both traditional whisked preparation and modern latte treatment, catering to varying customer preferences.

Cold drink offerings include experimental combinations like Black Apple and Black Calamansi, suggesting B3's willingness to experiment beyond conventional coffee shop menus.

Location and Access

B3 operates from Jl. Raya Pengosekan in central Ubud, positioning itself within walking distance of the town's main cultural attractions. The extended hours accommodate Ubud's diverse rhythms—early risers seeking fresh pastries with morning coffee, lunch crowds, dinner service, and late-night visitors seeking cocktails and conversation.
