Nusa Dua Resort Launches Major Renovation to Boost Global Appeal

Major Renovation Project Underway at Nusa Dua as ITDC Targets Global Competitiveness
Bali's premier resort destination is getting a significant makeover. The Nusa Dua, managed by state-owned Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), has launched an ambitious infrastructure upgrade targeting its Peninsula Island and Water Blow areas—two of the complex's most iconic attractions.
The multi-phase rejuvenation project, now in its 18th week, aims to modernize one of Southeast Asia's most established luxury tourism hubs while maintaining its competitive edge on the global stage.
Construction Progress on Track Despite Scale of Work
According to I Made Agus Dwiatmika, General Manager of Nusa Dua, the project has reached approximately 15% overall completion, with individual components progressing at varying rates.
"The rejuvenation of the Peninsula Island area is not only intended to enhance the area's aesthetics, but also to ensure infrastructure and public facilities are more responsive to the needs of international events and quality tourism."
Water Blow access and development work is the furthest along at 75% completion. Meanwhile, the Gate AC access road reconstruction to Peninsula Island has reached 30% completion. Wastewater infrastructure, including infiltration systems and Ground Water Tank installation, currently sits at 12%—a figure officials say is not behind schedule for this phase.
Comprehensive Infrastructure and Visitor Experience Improvements
The scope of improvements extends well beyond simple cosmetic updates. ITDC's vision includes:
- Enhanced road access and connectivity throughout the Peninsula
- Installation of rainwater catchment systems in the bay area
- Construction of new tourist facilities, including restrooms and wellness centers
- Community-focused amenities such as massage facilities
- Improved construction quality control and material procurement processes
These upgrades reflect ITDC's commitment to transforming Nusa Dua into a more organized, modern destination capable of hosting major international events while accommodating the evolving expectations of high-end tourists.
Strategic Investment in Bali's Luxury Tourism Sector
Though Nusa Dua already ranks among Bali's most developed resort areas, competition from emerging destinations and changing traveler preferences have prompted this proactive overhaul. The project demonstrates ITDC's recognition that even established luxury destinations must continually invest in infrastructure to maintain their appeal.
The renovation comes at a time when Bali continues to attract significant international tourism, yet faces infrastructure challenges common to rapidly developing destinations. By focusing on quality facilities and accessibility, ITDC is positioning Nusa Dua as a destination that can compete with world-class resorts globally.
