Dutch Tourist Deported After Hotel Rampage in South Jakarta

Indonesian immigration authorities have deported a Dutch national following a property damage incident at a hotel in South Jakarta's Mampang Prapatan district. The expulsion underscores Indonesia's zero-tolerance approach toward foreign visitors who breach public order regulations.

The individual, identified by initials TAV, entered Indonesia on a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for tourist purposes but allegedly caused significant destruction while staying at accommodation in the Tendean area. Security footage circulating among authorities captured the moment TAV kicked and damaged a water dispenser, with hotel management reporting additional vandalism to chairs, glasses, room lamps, and paintings.

Investigation and Swift Response

Rizki Ikhsan, Head of Immigration Intelligence at the South Jakarta Immigration Office, confirmed the deportation details on Wednesday, July 22. According to his statement, TAV had stayed at two different hotels within South Jakarta's jurisdiction—one in Menteng, Central Jakarta, and another in Tendean—during his time in the country.

After the hotel reported the incident to Mampang Prapatan Police, authorities escalated the matter to the South Jakarta Immigration Office. Immigration investigators determined that TAV's actions violated Article 75, paragraph (1) of Indonesia's Immigration Law, which prohibits conduct endangering public security and order.

"TAV was deported via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on July 20th," Ikhsan stated, confirming the swift processing of the case.

Strengthening Border Controls

The South Jakarta Immigration Office has emphasized its commitment to enhanced monitoring of foreign nationals' activities and presence in Indonesia. Officials indicated they will intensify cooperation with local police departments, municipal governments, hotel operators, and other relevant agencies to prevent similar incidents.
